New construction off of Skagit Highlands Parkway

The new school construction is starting up and we have already issues with children playing in the field/forest areas and pulling up survey stakes. This becomes very pricey for the school to get those stakes put back where they belong (approximately $2000.00 every time).  This is not only considered trespassing and parents can be held responsible for any damage or costs incurred, but there is also a safety issue with this being a construction site.

Please be aware of where your children play and encourage them to stay off private properties/vacant/and construction lots.

In addition, while the district was putting in the access road, the crew discovered a red-tailed hawk’s nest with recently hatched chicks.  This is a protected bird and therefore the crew has to alter it’s pathway until the Hawk’s can be safely relocated.  What this means is that there will be vehicles entering and exiting through Monarch.  This was approved by the city and traffic should be limited to fuel trucks and will only be temporary.
