The Sun is Out – So Are We

The Sun is Out – So Are We

Now that the weather is getting better, we all come out of our shells and spend time in our neighborhoods.  With this, comes some issues that we all need to be more conscious about:

  • We have many playgrounds and parks designated for children to play (this is the safest place for your children to play).  Streets and alleyways pose severe threats due to limited field-of-view and parked cars.
  • Please let your children know NOT to play in other neighbors yards unless the homeowners have given permission for the children to play there.  This is trespassing without permission.
  • Vandalism is on the rise, so please educate your children about other people’s property and the consequences of damaging things that don’t belong to them or yourselves.  This includes bouncing balls off other people’s fences, throwing toys onto neighboring houses roofs etc.  We have already gotten some concerned homeowners calling in with regards to this.  The parks, trails and common grounds areas are there to enjoy, not destroy.
  • Pets should be on a leash at all times or within the confines of your fenced back yard.  If you see a pet roaming the neighborhoods, please contact the Mount Vernon Police Department Animal Control.  This is against HOA rules in addition to being illegal.
  • Pick up your pet waste (many pet dispensers are located throughout the community if you forgot your bags) as well as cleaning up after your children (putting toys away, snack garbage etc.).
